| Aims of project: |
Elimination of an obstacle hindering river traffic in the form of the low clearance height of the existing railway bridge on the Elbe waterway. Construction of new railway bridge at km 298.866 of track Kolín – Nymburk including Associated Railway Connection to railway station Kolín and track section on the other side of the bridge. The new bridge will be built for a navigation profile of height 58.25 m, with preparation for possible future installation of lifting system to give a clearance of 7 m under the bridge instead of the current 4.35 m clearance. |
Technical description
of project: |
● Demolition of original railway bridge with steel truss construction at a length of 132 m built in the year 1908.
● Construction of new railway bridge – replacement of load-bearing construction and building of new lower construction in place of existing one.
● In terms of shape the design of the bridge follows that of the original construction of the truss construction in this locality.
● New connection of railway siding of heating plant Dalkia Kolín a.s. Reconstruction of two railway crossings in the streets Tovární and Starokolínská.
● Construction of almost 1km of noise walls.
● Relaying of engineering networks and adjustment of surrounding communications. Reconstruction of platforms
4 and 5 of station Kolín main railway station.
● Construction of new traction current lines and adjustments to existing safety equipment.
● Fitting of navigation markings with lighting and radar reflector to increase safety of shipping. |
| Course of construction: |
The construction was initiated in June 2009 on SO and PS according to the approved construction timetable.
In the course of the start of the work discussions were held with the Kolín municipal authority about the use of local roads.
In 2009 preparatory work was carried out on the construction for the main closures for reconstruction of the bridge –insertion of track connections to Zálabí, including new connection of siding Dalkia and establishment of railway crossing in this track (total of 6 points, approximately 1 200m of track including new traction current lines, traction supports, signal gantry and complete safety equipment integrated into the system in the railway station Kolín).
Anti-noise walls were built along both sides of the tracks to Velký Osek (SO 4321, 4322 anti-noise wall Zálabí left, right of track).
In the Czech Ports complex on the date 19.11.2009 the object SO 4607 Access Road to Complex ČP and SO 4420 Street Lighting received official approval.
In the complex of the Power Station Dalkia and on the access road to the Czech Ports complex gates were fitted as part of object SO 4301, 4302 Adjustment of Fencing of Power Station Kolín and Czech Ports complex.
As part of the construction repairs on the track on the grid in the railway station Kolín there was a conversion of the object of the former dental surgery into RSM offices which will be demolished as part of the spatial alteration of the tracks (SO 4306 Reconstruction of Station of External Dispatcher - receipt 5.3.2010).
For the main object of the construction - SO 4201 Railway bridge at km 298.866 over the Elbe during the winter we completed the work on the foundations for the lower construction – jet injection of existing supports and pillars, we built a new pillar and prepared supporting construction for the dismantling and assembly of a steel bridging construction.
On the date 10.3.2010 the first of the non-stop closures started for work on the bridge – closure of 114 track for period 10.3. – 6.7.2010. Trolley wiring was taken down (SO 4402 Alterations of traction current lines of railway station Kolín), track grid at km 299.190 – km 298.590 ( SO 4101 ,SO 4111 railway station Kolín, track structure and railway bed). On the date 15.3.2010, according to the approved construction timetable the dismantling of the steel construction of the existing bridge – its smaller half - was commenced. Then parts of the remaining support and pillars will be demolished, and new supports will be built in the prepared impermeable pits.
In the zone in front of the bridge on both sides of the river Elbe work was initiated on the supporting walls (SO 4202 a SO 4204 Supporting wall to right of track).
From 7.4.2010 closures will be expanded to include points on the Nymburk gridiron and platform No 5 (SO 4122 Reconstruction of platform No 5) and associated objects. There will be a complete reconstruction of both platform edges, including paving of surfaces, the lift shaft will be reconstructed, there will be a reconstruction of drainage and the sewer connection, information and orientation system. The reconstruction of the second half of the bridge will start with a non-stop closure on 14.7.2010. Update of activity as of date: 16.04.2010 |
