I/21 Velká Hleďsebe

I/21 Velká Hleďsebe
The Roads and Motorways Directorate is starting one of the most important constructions on the road I/21 which has great significance for transport in the Karlovy Vary region. This is the section at the town of Velká Hleďsebe u Mariánských Lázní. The new road will significantly contribute to an improved traffic situation in the locality.

Aims of project: The construction of road I/21 Velká Hleďsebe is part of a complex of constructions of relocation of road I/21. At the start of the section it connects with the relocation of the road I/21 in the section Trstěnice – Drmoul. From the local aspect the construction's significance is primarily in the switching of transit freight transport to this new road, which will relieve the traffic burden of the existing roads running through the town. The construction also resolves the immediately related rerouting of crossing and associated roads. The existing roads have an unsatisfactory directional and height layout, and the route also conflicts with the urban relations on territory – they run through the town of Drmoul and Velká Hleďsebe, which are accident black spots.
From the aspect of road safety the diversion of transit traffic outside the town is clearly beneficial, and a suitable solution for connecting the lower class roads to the backbone road and use of a roundabout intersection also minimises the number of collision points and increases the safety of pedestrians in the given section. There will be a reduction in the length of the route by approximately 10% when considering the operating costs. The optimally designed slope of the grade allows smoother transit and thus there is a saving on fuel costs, vehicle wear and, most importantly, time. In addition to other things, the transport solution of road I/21 Velká Hleďsebe allows the connection of the planned route of road III/1124 to the road I/21 via a multilevel junction (MLJ).
The route I/21 links up with the motorway D5 (MLJ Bor) and connects Planá, Mariánské Lázně, Cheb and Germany: Pomezí (expressway R6), Aš (road I/64) and Vojtanov (road I/21). On the road I/21 in the town of Velká Hleďsebe the road II/215, which ensures connection of the spa centre of Mariánské Lázně, links with the roads I/21.
Technical description
of project:
The bypass Velká Hleďsebe runs through the non-urban part of the town Velká Hleďsebe. These lands consist of arable land, permanent grass stands, forest lands, water surfaces, roads and other surfaces and communications on the cadastral territory of Drmoul, Velká Hleďsebe, Klimentov and Tři Sekery u Kynžvartu. The impacted lands are primarily used as meadows and grazing land.
At km 1.9–2.2 the route impinges on the area at the Riviéra swimming pool, and it crosses the road III/20173 to Tři Sekery here. An MLJ is proposed for the place where the roads I/21 and III/2073 cross. At the end of the section the route turns north west back to Velká Hleďsebe and ends at km 2.589, where it connects with the existing road I/21. The construction is in a class 2B protective band of therapeutic natural springs of the spa place Mariánské Lázně. At the end of the section where the road route impinges on the developed part of the town a 353 metre anti-noise wall and walled fencing of the parcel in Klimentov will be built. The noise level following the anti-noise measures will not exceed the permitted noise limits. New construction of two-lane road with length of 2589 metres with bituminous road surface, five road bridging objects, drainage into road ditches (in area of 2B Mariánské Lázně protective band), caused relaying of engineering networks administered by ČEZ, Telefónica O2, ZVHS and the town will be implemented in category S11.5/80.
The designed rerouting of the existing road I/21 will be put into operation in the entire section in a length of 2,589 metres. The rerouting of the local roads to the swimming pool and to Malá Hleďsebe will be implemented in advance and will also be put into early use in order to ensure access or transfer of transport outside the space of the construction. The construction of a bridging object on the existing I/21 road is a limiting factor for implementation. The construction of this bridging object will be implemented after the transfer of transport to a provisional road.
After the completion of construction the connection with the town of Velká Hleďsebe will be preserved and there will be no fundamental change in outflow conditions. At the place of the construction there are no water sources which would be directly threatened. The route causes an impingement on existing greenery growing outside the forest and on the forest greenery. Compensation by new planting is being considered on the basis of a proposal for felling from a dendrological survey.
