Track structure

This field of activity is the main production programme of our company. Viamont DSP a.s., has been involved in constructions, reconstructions and maintenance of track structure since it was founded. We have gradually included other activities and fields in our production programme with expansion of company operation in other segments of transport construction.

DIAGNOSTICS
The type and scope of work on track structure is dictated at the very beginning of implementation by the specification, i.e., by the needs of the customer (track administrator). Its aim is to designate the scope and method for elimination of faults with regard to the load on the track and financial possibilities of the client.

Viamont DSP a.s. implements work deliveries in all categories:

MINOR MAINTENANCE
This applies in particular to repairs of local faults (of more minor scale) which threaten the safety and smooth flow of rail traffic or faults which could develop into faults directly threatening rail traffic. At this level we perform the replacement and addition of minor track and fasteners, manual turning and lubrication of fasteners, occasional replacement of rails, transverse wooden and concrete sleepers, replacement of crossing sleepers, elimination of rail fractures, welding of rails, establishment and repair of LIS and A-LIS, alteration of local directional and height faults of tracks and switches manually, including evaluation of GPK state by manual gauge bar, manual cleaning of track ballast, ditches and bed, elimination and liquidation of plants, shrubs and trees.

MEDIUM REPAIRS
These repairs of track structure include repairs of continuous character performed as a rule on a section longer than 150m.

They usually consist of one predominant main operation eliminating the causes of the most serious faults ascertained on the basis of an evaluation of the results of diagnostics and other work which augments it or is caused by this activity.

Our company performs these decisive operations:
● machine cleaning of track bed in full profile or just between the sleeper heads. In order to increase the load capacity of the sleeper bed by insertion of a construction layer (or geotextile) between the track bed and ground base we use mechanical decontamination cleaners. As work associated with machine cleaning of the track bed we perform gravel treatment, and treatment of ditches and drainage features, treatment of GPK, including dynamic stabilisation, addition to sleeper bed and its profile grading, liquidation of contaminated soil according to approved technological procedure.
● replacement of sleeper bed by:
- special track machines, most frequently mechanical cleaners SČ 600, ZRM - 79 or decontamination machines (for example AHM 800 R) without dismantling, or before dismantling of track grid
- by machines for earthmoving work or non-track cleaner during dismantling of track grid
● replacement of rails, either individual ones or by replacement of welded rail bands with a length of up to 300 m
● replacement of sleepers, which are implemented:
- manually
- by machine with replacement of individual sleepers (for example by the machine SVP 74, two-way diggers)
- by machine through the continual replacement of all sleepers using renovation machines
● by welding of rails and switches using the technologies Railtech.
● creation of continuous welded rail by means of thermite welding or replacement of long rail bands using SDK II kits Other information in Rail Welding chapter
● adjustment of directional and height arrangement of tracks and switches using automatic track and switch tamping machines. We achieve the high-quality adjustment of GPK through the deployment of mechanical lines consisting of these machines:
- automatic tamping machine (UNIMAT 09-16/4S, ASP)
- ballast adjustment ploughs (Pušl, USP, SSP)
- track bed compactors (ASPz, ZŠ)
- dynamic stabiliser (DGS 90 N) or track bed vibrator (VKL) Adjustment of geometric position is also complemented by the performance of manual stabilisation of switches.

Reconstruction of track structure is essentially replacement of worn material of the track structure with new or regenerated material. We perform the reconstruction of track sections and reconstruction of capping.

Decisive work during reconstruction of track structure:
● reconstruction of track bed using mechanical cleaning or full replacement of track bed
● reconstruction of the track grid of tracks and switches using these procedures:
- fitting in axis (for example using technology of separate laying of rails and sleepers by renovation machines SUM 1000 CS, SUZ 350 …)
- pre-assembly of track fields and parts of switches and laying using track cranes of the type UK 25/18, PKP 25 track layers, special laying machines for track fields and switches TPL 550 , Desec etc., rotating track cranes of the type EDK, lorry-mounted cranes

One integral part of the reconstruction of track structure is the performance of adjustments to GPK inserted tracks and switches, welding and establishment of continuous welded rail, adding ballast and adjusting bed to profile, adjustment of beds, ditches and drainage, dismantling of old track grid, including its categorisation, and processing of project documentation amended according to the true state of performance of the construction in graphic and digital form. The high-quality performance of all the aforementioned activities is conditional on extensive technical infrastructure. In our case this is ensured by the assembly base with a high standard of equipment in Chabařovice. The base has a siding with gantry cranes and own locotractor units with linkage to ČD. In order to deal with unexpected events Viamont DSP a.s. has its own material equipment for track structure at the base, and it has it in such a volume that on an operative basis it is possible to eliminate any accident both on track sections and switches. We perform the individual constructions via mobile construction-assembly gangs equipped with high-quality small equipment. Qualified site managers and foremen ensure the engineering aspect of constructions, and they participate in the preparation, implementation and subsequent approval for use of the individual constructions.

Railway bed

Work on railway beds is an integral part of work on all rail lines. The company Viamont DSP a. s. performs all types of this repair work, i.e., maintenance, repairs, redevelopment, reconstruction and modernisation. The functionality of the railway bed body constructions and the equipment of the railway bed, its load-bearing capacity and stability is ensured by this work.

One of the most commonly performed items of work on railway bed is increasing the load-bearing capacity and stability of the railway bed body. One essential precondition for performing this work is high-quality geo-technical survey and project documentation designating a suitable type of construction of sleeper bed. Our company performs or ensures all types of this work

● creation of ground base from non-cohesive, frost-proof and permeable soils
● insertion of construction layers, geotextiles, reinforced geotextiles, geogrids, geocells and geomembranes
● insertion of prefabricated concrete slabs, asphalt concrete
● creation of layers of stabilised soils with lime, cement, earth graders with automatic hopper.

Other very common repair work includes repairs to or creation of drainage features (ditches, ditch walls, chutes, gutters, drains, slope ribs etc.), reinforcing slopes of soil body with vegetation protection (topsoil, hydroseeding) or with technical protection (paving, facing, gabions, grids, mats), maintenance and repair to supporting and breast walls, platforms and fencing.

Railway corridors

The modernisation and optimisation of railway tracks and corridors represents the most technically complex constructions in the field of transport engineering. These constructions are made all the more difficult by the very strict conditions for minimum restriction of existing traffic during the period of implementation. The organisational unit for the implementation and management of corridor constructions of the company Viamont DSP a.s. consists of highly qualified workers with several years of experience in these constructions. Through good coordination and management of the performance of own production fields of the company Viamont DSP a.s. (track constructions, traction current lines) and rail transport capacities the very best preconditions are established for the implementation of the integrated parts of these constructions, which are amongst the most significant investment projects.
